It was somewhat misleading for Star Wars to label all of the robots “droids”. Droid is short for “android” which means “manlike” – i.e., designed to resemble a human, which only applies to C3PO and similar units. R2D2 and the others were mere robots.

When I saw that line I just laughed and laughed. When I saw it in “The Duplex” a few years ago,
