I’ve been to a few places in Micronesia like that. You get up in the morning; pull up the line which usually has dinner on it. Climb some trees, pick some fruit and you’re done working for the day.
My wife has some cousins who lived on Guam. Back in the day when I was in the Air Force, I used to fly through there. They always took good care of me, so I decided to treat them to a dinner at the officer’s club on time. One of the cousins couldn’t make it. He didn’t own a pair of shoes.
