At last, we have figured out what is ruining the world and preventing us from reaching the utopian ideal toward which we have ever striven! O, Glorious Day!
Tax Man: Your freedom stops where my lungs begin. Since you CAN’T prevent your smoke from spreading everywhere (and dilution is NOT a solution), every time you smoke you’re forcing second-hand smoke on others. A quarantine would be a sensible reaction to the toxic stench coming from that property.
And the blasted smoke never comes out of the rugs and walls. If you stay in a hotel/motel room where a smoker stayed before you, you get the stench on your body from the mattress, the blankets, and pillows. The hospitality industry was over the moon at the smoking ban.
The local VFW allows smoking. If I stop by for a beer on the way back from the in-town MD, my lungs sound like a collapsing bagpipe all through the night and the next AM,…and I quit smoking (for the 3rd time) 30 years ago this month. Weird.
Here in North Carolina we are headquarters for several cigarette companies. They have a smoking policy: smoke’em if you got ‘em anywhere in the building. Not only do they not have designated smoking areas, they don’t have any designated non-smoking areas.
I had an offer of an interview with them when I was unemployed. I turned it down.

In Australia, the latest hike in cigarette taxes of 13.7% will see each cigarette cost about a dollar. Good reason to kick the habit.

The question remains was it tobacco or the Weed? If it was the Weed then the yellow tape would say ‘Police Line-Do not cross.’
