Between the book and the screenplay, there’s a lot of added rubbish.
Most Hollywood producers think they could do a better job than the original author. They’ve even rewritten the Bible
Sometimes a rewrite is for the better. For example in the movie “The French Connection” there is a car chase scene that was not in the book. Missing from the movie is the suspense of a stakeout.
The sound track is Bob Seger’s Turn The Page.
They are two different media, folks, and neither can do what the other can. Anyone who expects them to be identical is an idiot.
It’s much easier for a book to convey information – character thoughts and emotions.
I hate it when they add something which is not in the book but the shrunken head in the Night Bus in the third Harry Potter movie was pure genius.
the film was a real page turner…
