Back in the day, we Jews in New Jersey would drive down the then-not-depressing casinos in Atlantic City on Christmas Day. It was the one day of the year that you never had to wait in line for anything.
When Elena Kagan was being evaluated in the Senate for confirmation to the Supreme Court, several Senators had tried to fault her for past comments or equivocations. Senator Lindsey Graham, more or less made fun of that approach by bringing up the infamous Christmas Day Bomber and asking, with a wink, where Ms. Kagan had been oh that particular day. Her reply… “Like all good Jews I was probably at a Chinese restaurant.” I’m a Methodist, but have been grateful to her for that tip when we were all too exhausted to feed ourselves at suppertime on Christmas day.

Meanwhile, all the little children get fortune cookies and Sno-Caps in their stockings. A win-win for everyone!
