My Dad once told me, “Dental work breeds more dental work”. I have one filling that I got at age 12 and they have been telling me how many more beginnings of cavities I have for the last 50 years. Uh….unless they hurt, I’m leaving them alone. They haven’t progressed for 50 years, I’ll probably get by for the rest of my days without filling them, thankyaverymuch (Elvis voice).
. . . my dentist told me, that when he was in dental school, an Amish father wanted his three daughters to each have a FULL MOUTH EXTRACTIONS or FME! When, the designated dental student, examined the mouths of these three young ladies, he told the father, that there were only a few small cavities to repair, NO NEED for have ALL of their teeth pulled! "Dentists save teeth, not pull them, unless necessary. ", the father was told. However, the father insisted on their FME, so “that his young daughters would have a better chance of finding husbands!” When, I asked what happened then, my dentist told me that they refused the father’s request, though the father probably found someone else to complete his request! Sad. :’(
