I recently saw a TV show in which a professional auctioneer confessed that the reason for their constant babble during bidding is to keep people from having time to think.
Apparently it works for overpriced crappy art as well as tobacco and hogs.
It’s not overpriced if you can find a buyer willing to pay what you’re asking…
Giacometti probably got paid chump change (relatively speaking) when he first made the sale.
