Well, that’s three things this anti-PC, pro-capitalism comics fan agrees with.
Now if Michele would just distance herself from the anti-evolution, anti-women’s-rights nut-jobs, I could forgive her for not being that bright.
(Neither was Reagan, but he was smart enough to gather a circle of smart people around him so he didn’t have to do all the thinking. Plus, unfortunately, he attracted some un-thinking religious-right nut-jobs, which is why I switched to Independent and have never gone back. Think Adam and Eve rode around on dinosaurs? Then Sarah’s your girl.)
Comments, anyone? But based on past experience, nobody reads Sylvia for the politics.
Yes, minimum wage has made finding entry level positions for unskilled labor extremely difficult. Unemployment for teenagers and black men is over 50%. (Why so many black men are competing for unskilled labor is another issue.)My position on illegal aliens makes me a pariah on both sides: “stop letting the ACLU set quotas”. Give out as many work visas as you can process. No amnesty for the ones here illegally – let ‘em go back across the border and get a visa to come back in.“We’re running out of rich people" is a great soundbite and so true. But I can kind of understand the mindset that wants to tax the rich. What seems so incredibly stupid to me is “tax the corporations”. I guess it isn’t obvious to a lot of people who pays corporate taxes (answer for liberals here: the customers). Corporate taxes are really only useful for penalizing products, like cigarette taxes to make smoking more expensive, or oil taxes to dampen demand for oil (taxes on oil are 30 times profits – it is so silly when people think oil company profits are what make gas prices high). While the 6000 year old earth idea is unbiblical and in conflict with direct observations, I’ll take the culture that believes that over Islamicists any day.
Running out of rich people? As long as rich people aren’t running out of money, why is this a problem, Conservatives? Stuart, if corporations get human rights (ie, can donate to & support candidates with as much $ as they want to spend), they should pay human taxes at human rates, which they don’t. Cultures may not be equal, but laws in America are supposed to be. Yeah, who needs minimum wage laws when the Republicans et al want to create a class of serfs to work on their estates and plantations while they send skilled jobs overseas. You people should be ashamed of yourselves.
Go read a little Studs Terkel, learn a little labor history, read de Tocqueville’s “Democracy in America”…and then shut up.
