I understand there are now gluten-free communion wafers. And to think people used to kill each other over the difference between consubstantiation and transubstantiation.

Or course, we can ignore the people who gave up gluten and high fructose corn syrup who saw their health improve. Nope – we should wait until diabetes and auto-immune disorders set in before we take a chance that what everyone thinks is good might not be good for us!

Eating gluten will not trigger gluten intolerance. The reason for the autoimmune reaction is unknown. If gluten triggered it, I would have gotten a bad case a looong time ago. High fructose is almost identical in composition to sugar. Neither are health foods, but small amounts are not going to affect most people. Why is there so much outrage now over h.f. corn syrup, but so little over sugar, which is the same thing? Just another case of media hype obscuring the reality.
