writing in drying cement is a real work out for your fingers.
This is a comment on body builders that “sculpt” their various body parts to impress other body builders.
The only thing I can come up with is this quote by the writer Ernest Hemingway: “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”
Thanks for the effort, Co and Na, especially the attempt to bring in “sculpting”, but I think the connection is Hemingway was a “tough guy” writer, so the fingers used in writing would have been overdeveloped, which others could achieve by the method of writing in drying cement.
Weak, but I think that’s a problem with the cartoonists, not with our imaginations.
