… I am so wishy washy on this subject. The colleges make tons and tons of $$$ off these student athletes, yet, aren’t you supposed to go to college for an education?Isn’t free education, room and board enough?Free room and board, yet 60%+ of the athletes don’t graduate;80%+ don’t ever play professional ball. And why does my college going student have to pay a $500.00 fee for sports if sports is bringing in all this dough?Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
Using ‘kids’ seems so…medieval..but when the kids say…I’ll have some more,please..we act all indignant on their behindies..
Sport scholarships should be banned from state schools…ie..if you play sports in college..no free rides.lets get back tio educating our youth in colleges…not ‘using’ them for glory and greed…
Fine, pay them a $500/mo. stipend the four months they’re playing football, but then get rid of that “nothing” $35K tuition they’re “not” getting. Problem solved.

Tell the 19 year old that if he gets paid in college he’s ineligible to play in the pros.
