And now it’s Alex Smith’s turn in SF, as apparently the 49ers have been in touch with Peyton. These teams that don’t get Peyton are alienating the QBs they do have. Admittedly Tebow and Smith might not be great QBs, but I have a feeling karma’s gonna come back and bite these teams on the a$$.

The only reason I can see for any team to sign Manning is Box Office – pure and simple. Having Manning on the team will sell a lot of tickets, but if a team is truly serious about winning a Super Bowl, Payton is definitely not the way to go. Just ask the Jets and Vikings fans how their Favre experiments turned out, especially long term.

Last I checked, Denver is always sold out for Bronco games. I think Elway really believes Peyton is all they need to go over the top and get back to the “glory days!” Tebow is not Elway’s kind of QB (maybe H-back, but not QB). Peyton buys them a few years while Elway pursues the next “answer”.

Adam Vinatieri once said his father gave him this advice: “You’re never as good as they say you are, and you’re never as bad as they say you are.” Hit the nail on the head. This is why football is so fun to watch, to see what actually happens when they take the field next season.
