I know I’m getting old. I watch the Tampa Bay Rays in spring training and go to the Stone Crabs ( their farm team ) games.It’s bad enough that these kids look like they should still be in high school, but the UMPIRES are beginning to look too young!
Speaking of umps, I can’t wait to see what Jeff and Bill make of the spat the other night between The Yankees’ catcher (Russell Martin) and the ump (Laz Diaz). This should be good!
You know, this references a tradition that never made a lot of sense to me: Why plunk the next batter after giving up a home run? I’d wait through the order until the guy who went deep came up again, THEN send a beamer down. Why plunk Ron Hunt because Bobby Bonds went yard on you?
