the dignity of a game where guys spit tobacco on the field? The dignity of a game with ’roids and corked bats and 1000 million dollar ten game winners?
I will consider Pete Rose, Roger C, Sammy S.et.al. for the H.O.F. during the reception following the induction of Joe Jackson. .Jackson went to trial and was found “NOT GUILTY”, Landis denied Jackson a career as well as his reputation based on his personal prerogative and philosophy of “Hang them all and let God sort out the innocent.”
Those wife-beaters like Joe DiMaggio and Babe Ruth (who was also a prostitute-beater…..) made it in. Baseball is a funny game with a few VERY odd characters in its history…..
Some people just can’t let go of their childhood. Granted, Rog got paid very well to extend his childhood well into adulthood. But I’ve seen stranger. About 35 years ago I read about a guy who was 40 at the time and got his clock cleaned in a professional boxing ring. You may wonder why a 40-year-old man is risking getting his lights punched out. Me, I wanted to ask the 60-year-old guy who knocked him out.
