Knowing how the VA has been run, the answer is to warehouse them somewhere without outside contact.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Unfortunately, brother, you are speaking the horrific truth ! And while it’s preaching to the choir ( many of us are Vets and ex-jocks ) these things need to be brought to the attention of the idiots in government and the general public, over and over again, until one day, maybe, just maybe, they’ll get it !
Having been in the VA system, in several different states since 1980, I have to say that while the VA Drs have tended to overmedicate in the past, from what I have seen over the past 5 years the VA is becoming a leader in investigating and treating brain injuries
When I see football games on TV from the 60s and before, I do not see players tackling with their heads like all players do today. It also seems like today in the NFL that defenses are not as good as they were in the past. I do not know if that is because players are bigger and stronger or because they no longer learn the basics of blocking and tackling like they did back in the day
We’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg here. There are a few players who make it to the NFL and have played for maybe 16 years high school through pros. College players have played for 8, high school players for 4 (more if they started before high school). NFL players are likely to be the most severely hurt, but not the only ones hurt.
