There is a variety that is actually played with the feet! And several that are played without pads, thus requiring skill rather than brute momentum in contact.
GuiltyBystander: Essentially with the feet: Association Football (aka soccer); variants: rugby, Australian Rules; plus padded, but still more open and no “three yards and a cloud of dust”: Canadian Rules (nine yards still leaves you a yard short since you only get three downs to make ten yards).

That’s my concern too. Will the game of football survive?

Does it really matter if it doesn’t?

I wouldn’t want to live on a planet without football.

If there were no helmets there would be less head to head contact.
