Several years ago,I wrote a serious piece ( under my real name ), about the terrible mistake that Tampa Bay was making when even considering hiring Jameis Winston.
I believed he was carrying far too much baggage, and would only cause more problems down the road.
Nothing has changed and he has only confirmed my predictions.
Talent on the sports field does not trump ( pun intended ) outrageous, immature, chauvinistic behavior.
Like many young men of his age, with talent comes a false sense of entitlement and a belief that the world centers around them. They will never truly take responsibility for their actions, because, for their entire lives they’ve been told they don’t have to. They believe that there’s no real consequences to any of their actions. They are stars !
I believe in giving everyone a second chance, but Jameis Winston has been given too many passes on bad behavior. He will never learn, and grow as a person and as an athlete, if he doesn’t start to feel the consequences, of what he says, and does.
