Why is everyone so sensitive these days ? And letting a few people turn the country upside down . If you don’t like it here go somewhere else , that is if they will let you in .
If we’re really going all in on this, remind us all that The Star Spangled Banner was written by a slaveholder. Sorry, but just not a. playing a certain song is not going to get it done. The job is way, way bigger than that.
Well, they could always play “Texas, Our Texas,” which happens to be the state song. Or, they could just let tradition win the day. After all, how many people could tell you the origin of that song? It’s just a song, people. Maybe they could focus on things like getting rid of gangs, or feeding hungry children, or something much more important.
The claim is that the nodes of racism aren’t in the ‘The Eyes of Texas’ lyrics but in the song’s past. Using this logic is like the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon parlor game, almost anything can be linked back to a less than a stellar past if you look hard enough. Life is not a parlor game, if you want to be offended you will find some way to be offended. How about just judge people fairly and accept that the human race is not perfect, nor will we ever be. The past is a life lesson not a life sentence.
Umm, you realize that the construction of the railroad was much more about exploitation of the Irish (from the east to west) and Chinese (from west to east), right? They got the most dangerous of the jobs and had the highest mortality of those working the railroad.

Next up: whites harassed for playing in jazz bands, because it’s “cultural appropriation.”

I don’t get how “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” is racist. Is it because of strummin’ on the old banjo? Seems far-fetched.

Talk to the virtue signallers, and you’ll find most of them have a racist present (that’s allowed when you’re “woke”).

No one is forced to attend Texas. Go someplace else for school, maybe outside of Texas.
