What guarantees do we have that he wasn’t just bitten by a radioactive spider?

I just read an article regarding arm issues in major league baseball pitchers. banning the use of some sticky stuff has caused pitchers to have to grip the ball naturally and after years of using sticking stuff, their arms are not adjusting well to an instant ban on the stuff. what gives here? in the past if you doctored a ball with any substance you were kicked out. i know the rosin bag was acceptable, powder, but sticky stuff?
