I don’t follow baseball closely enough. I had no idea that was the trigger for the new checks.

higher spin rate = less offense = even less fan interest? All unwritten or written rules go out the window when they affect the bottom line

There’s a DEVICE for measuring spin rates? I assumed they just hired a guy to count the spins of each pitch. Technology is taking away all the plum jobs.

Too many no-hitters so far this season? Outside of statistical odds..

First they ban trash cans, now sticky! What are they going to ban next, balls and bats‽ Those things can hurt people!

“Baseball is a game of tradition…” What better way to celebrate “tradition” than by disbanding two of the oldest sports organizations in North America and then reorganizing them and calling them “Triple-A East” and “Triple-A West.”

As far as tacky fingers are concerned, isn’t the purpose of the rosin bag on the backside of the mound to make the pitcher’s fingers tacky, so as to make for a surer grip? The rosin bag has always been legal.

There must be some more things that can slow down the game.

    C’mon folks let’s get a list going.

The foreign substance rule isn’t unwritten, in fact it written and enforced in 1919-20 season and totally enforced in 1934 with the retirement of the last pitcher approved to throw the spitter.

MLB is not re-writing a rule at all, simply enforcing one that should have always been enforced.

Playing by the rules is a good thing.

In my younger days I played a lot of baseball. I had 20/15 vision which made it easy to pick up the rotation of the ball. Never had any trouble hitting, but I had no throwing arm. Couldn’t reach 1st from the shortstop position.

Look, it’s another whine story, starting with signal stealing. As a pitcher, change the indicator. 1 fastball, 2 curve, 3 slider. Change indicator to 2-3-1 or 2-1-3, and see what happens. Easy peasy’’’
