I do not think the Babe knocked back a gallon of Pepsi before each game, unless is was with a fifth or 2 of his fave whisky. I am surprised he only came in at #4 on this list:

Did Babe Ruth eat tons of hotdogs?

With respect to Ohtani there is only one thing people need to remember about Babe Ruth. You take the 220+ batting, pitching and fielding records he set during his career, single game, season and career, regular season and playoff, it required 70 different players to beat them and he stills holds several a century later.

The Babe ate all through the game, signaling for hot dogs (and beer, I hope) to the vendors in the right-field bleachers. He could down several dogs between batters. Hit, hit for power, field, pitch, eat—Babe could do it all. Except run, maybe. Can’t have everything all the time.

Isn’t that “Ruthenian”? (Whoa, sorry, those are primitive Slavs of uncertain ethnicity.)

I know it’s A Different type of baseball, but let’s pump the brakes on Ohtani/Ruth. When Ohtani hits 60, has a .333 batting average and a World Series pitching win or two, then the analytic nerds who thing only OPS matters can start up the conversation. Until then. enjoy the present show and put it in context
