Nah, it’s not a bias against small markets. The NBA doesn’t care about that. It’s against teams that don’t have marquee players to boost the TV ratings. People don’t tune in to watch Golden State, they tune in to watch Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
That’s certainly not true in football. My favorite team is the NFL’s smallest market, Green Bay, WI. But the officials seem to love the Packers as much as I do.
