Meh. Larger bases? Negligible effect. Pitch clock? Needed for years. Banning the shift? Beats expecting players with multiyear contracts worth nine figured to lower themselves by learning to bunt or hit the other way. I guess.
Now we need courtesy runners so slow players won’t feel bad about themselves. Any other U-10 girls slo-pitch rules out there that MLB can adopt?
I was at Yankee Stadium when the Texas Rangers hit back-to-back inside the park home runs, one of them by Bump Willis(Maury’s son).Didn’t think anything of it at the time.
But it turned out to be the only time in Big League History it happened.
They really need to adopt the church league 1st base: twice as wide, half white, half orange. The runner has to step on the orange side, which is outside the base path; if he steps on white, he’s automatically out since it puts the first baseman at risk of being touched or bumped. Also, hitters in a slump get to use a tee instead of having to try and hit a pitch – can’t have people feeling bad about themselves. Finally: NO SLIDING! That’s also an automatic out – you could hurt yourself or someone else. Also comes with a 3 game suspension.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd bases going from 15" square to 18" square. Home base dimensions unchanged. Part of MLB’s efforts to make the game more active.

Whatever happened to good old fashioned baseball rules?

I can’t think of one player in baseball today who’s famous for stealing bases.

Might as well just get rid of it. Poor overpaid boys!! Make standing around a fine art. Not even going to mention the one pitch pitchers…
