    I think we’re going to see a number of opposite side pitcher/hitters coming in the future. Yet I, too, think that Ohtani is probably done with pitching, at least as a starter. Maybe he has a chance for short relief? Or what about him becoming a closer? That would be a weird one…

    Remember when they did just that? They pitched and they hit. There was no designated hitter. Hell, there wasn’t even a 5-6 day rest between outings. Whitey Ford would pitch a complete game and come back the next day and do it again. They weren’t the prima donnas who pitched 5 innings or 100 pitches before being taken out. Some of them weren’t bad hitters either. Don’t remember if it was Curt Gowdy or Mel Allen who coined the phrase, "This guy’s a Goooooooooood hittin Pitcher.’ Oh well.

    my little league pitchers can go 6 innings, but these coddled pitchers can’t ‘t go six innings, and don’t have to hit. where have you gone joe dimaggio, our nation turns its lonely eyes on you? oh the humanity!!!!!

    Babe Ruth was originally a pitcher and only switched to outfielder so he could bat every game.
