Amazing the difference between the number of games per season between the NFL, NBA/NHL, and MLB (the latter tells me you really really must love baseball to play it that much professionally).
They could easily work out the schedule so that all back-to-backs are played at home, but for some reason they don’t (some are, of course). The restorative time between games seems more effective if you aren’t spending most of it traveling.
I suppose, though, it would mean that more than half of the season would be spent on the road (same number of games as at home, spread out longer), but that’s the only downside I can think of.
The NBA has made some progress in reducing back to back road games, mostly elimination of 3 games in 5 nights on the road. Many years ago, during the time of “The Original Six” the NHL would schedule teams to play 2 or three games against each other before moving on. But they had a 70 game season (14 against each opponent in a 6 team league) and were still traveling by rail. Try that now with 32 teams between Edmonton and Miami.

Since when have double headers been played unless it is to make up for a rain out.

I think baseball has the shortest season out of all the sports.

A.I. will eventually call the games, eliminating everything EXCEPT the betting. Much more efficient.

There is not enough time to properly smoke enough meats for the tailgate parties if football was played daily.

The NFL players say playing a game is like a car crash. Imagine being in 7 car crashes every week.

NBA players run an average of 2-5 miles PER GAME, I highly doubt the average MLB player puts in that much running in a week…..

Well, that’s right, it’s the traffic that keeps me away from the NFL $400 games…
