Why would you want to feed a deseased animal to anyone? What if it make all the people that ate it very sick? The entire tribe could be stricken with any number of deseases, such as Salmonella, Hepatitis A, Campylobacter, Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) and Verotoxigenic Escherichia coli (VTEC) just to name a few. I am all for culling sick and/or infectious animals from the herd. But they really dont make a good food supply for humans who’s digestive track usually cannot handle the infux of so many foriegn bacteria. Wouldn’t it be better to cart it off to the preserve and let the animals natural predators eat it? That’s what scavengers are for, right?

How do you know if the meat at the store is all germ free? Maybe the farmer took it to the stock yards the first day he found it to be sick.

As Tevye from )\Fiddler on the Roof might’ve put it, “As the Good Book says: When a poor African eats an elephant, one of them is sick.” (Wait, what?)The Gods Must Be Crazy II gets a great deal of mileage out of the discovery of a dead elephant and the need for the protagonist’s Bushman tribe to eat it before it spoiled. Diseased or not, not a good idea, out of ignorance or not.
