    Which didn’t make what Tarzan just said any less true. That part of history is often buried when colonialism is discussed.There were severe problems to be sure – nowhere worse than in the Belgian Congo – but there were also great benefits. Those African nations who have retained close ties to their former foreign rulers, especially Britain and France, overall have done much better for themselves than those that have not.
