“Oh it’s about twenty thousand leagues under the ground, Tarzan”

“And how long will it take to reach there, Mahar?”

“Oh, it takes about 80 Days from anywhere around the world, Tarzan.”

Now I’ve heard everything: A creature from molten earth core living on top of the earth with winter coming! No wonder it wants to go home, Come on Tarzan, take it to the nearest volcano and drop it in! But wait, there’s the mind reading thingee to solve – or does it really matter?

Ok, so before “Tarzan at the Earth Core” …..

(Sigh!) The ERB universe includes a hollow earth. The land of Pellucidar is not literally at the center, but is on the inner surface of a hollow sphere. The center is occupied by a central sun, which gives Pellucidar daylight. (It was possible, even in ERB’s time, to prove that this construction is impossible, but it’s the story that ERB told.
