To preserve your wonderful artistic pumpking longer than usual, wipe down with vinegar water, dry and coat with petroleum jelly, WD-40, hair spray or whatever will seal it. If squirrels are a problem, add hot pepper to your coating. Take care where it will placed, It will satin concrete and bricks. But the squirrels wil take one bite and leave it alone. Cup the bottom rather than the top. Easier to get the seeds and pulp out.
