Transcript:
During the middle ages, the wealthy locked themselves into massive castles to protect themselves from the lawless poverty beyond their walls. Whenever they traveled to another fortress, they relied on reinforced carriages and weapons to fend off highway robbers.. (Man: Begone, knave!) (Woman: Verily, I come in peace!) Several hundred years ago, people put an end to this feudal system. They pooled resources to bring over and prosperity to people who weren't born rich. Not only was it fair: It allowed the well-off to feel safe away from home. (Man: I'm tired of fending off wolves every time I visit a neighbor. I say we all pitch in and pay taxes!) There is no progress. There are only cycles of history. (Man: It's my money! I can use it a lot better than the government can!) (Woman: I'll start the moat)
