Found somebody’s tuxedo cat on the porch this morning. He/She/It took one look at me, wailed and ran as though the devil was after him. I didn’t think I looked THAT bad in the morning.
Look’s like you guys had a great but tiring time. I couldn’t have traversed those hills. Thanks for sharing the pictures. The one thing I miss about the Ren Fair is the food. Scotch Eggs, Steak on a Stake, Turkey Legs just to name a few.Morning to everyone and hope everyone has a good day.
My Smudge has died today. She was 20 years old. Can it really be 20 years since I trapped her on one of my first trapping assignments for Forgotten Felines? The woman I was helping said she would help foster her to get her socialized and set her up in her bedroom. The next day I got a call that the kitten had disappeared. I came over and we found her burrowed into the box springs of the bed. I extracted her and took her home with me to finish the socialization. She was a nice kitten and seemed ready for adoption so she got fixed and had her shots and I took her the mobile adoptions on three weekends-each time she hid in the litterbox and wouldn’t come out to greet prospective families. I finally said she wants to be my cat and I took her home where she was happy. And she was, indoor and out where she roamed for mice in the pasture and lived a good live. At about 18 I decided she should stay inside and she happily did but developed arthritius and a chronic runny nose which turned out to be cancer in her sinus area. She was doing well until last week but she slowly stopped eating and yesterday ate nothing and passed today. You were a good cat Smudge.
Sorry Rikkie Tavi! Had an abandoned Calico (Left in a cat carrier at my church on a very cold Dec day) that lived about 15 years. She picked me as her human out of my family (Which my daughter who rescued never got over!) and would snuggle me to sleep at night. Her name was Patches and the last picture I have of her was her sleeping on my jeans. Miss that Kitty! But I do believe they have souls and we shall see them again.
Rikkie Tavi, I am so very sorry for your loss! I had my Hannah Bee for 16 years and 4 days. She was born on my back porch. She was peach and gray. Wish I knew how to post pics from my album, sigh!
Smudge was BEAUTIFUL! You were lucky to have had her with you for 20 years. I know it will be strange, her not being there.
(((((((((((((((((((Rikkie and Smudge)))))))))))))))))
Ppfyss and Gweedo what a lovely day to be at the Faire! Sounds like you had a great time! We have the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire which I have been to 4 times, once on a family vacation, and 3 times as a “Room Mother Chaperone” on school field trips. Haven’t been for a few years, might be about time to go back. I loved them! Especially the Jousting matches.
It’s nice that you 2 have become friends and live so close.
Finally catching up (again) with Ten Cats, that looks quite an interesting event. What a true gentleman you are Gweedo for taking Ppfyss for an outing :)
Rikkie Tavi, she was beautiful. She definitely chose you to spend her life with. Everyone here knows what a huge place in our hearts they fill, and what a huge hole they leave when they go. It never gets any easier, especially when they’re with you for so long.
Rikki- thank you for the wonderful care you gave to Smudge. She must have had a Great life with her Forever Friend! Everybody here understands. Thank you for sharing. ((hug))
Rikkie TaveSo sorry to read about your “Smudge”. She was gorgous, and I know you gave her a great home for all those 20 years. As a calico lover, I feel your pain..and as the former owner of a barn cat for over 20 years, I know how much she grew on you. My deepest sympathies..
@ Rikkie TaviSooo sorry about your beloved cat. I have one that js 23 and still doing well. Don’t know what life would be without her. Lost my 16 year old calico in March this year.

So sorry Rikki Tavi. When a cat reaches 20 years (we had one too), it can be hard to remember when you didn’t have them. Smudge is beautiful.

Rikkie – I’m so sorry, it always hurts so much. She lived a good and a long life for which you can be grateful. RIP little Smudge.
