Hooligan918 said, about 12 Hooliganisms agoHey, W&S – I asked you yesterday if you knew of Nashwauk. Ever heard of it?I sure have! My late hubbys family had a cabin up there and we spent some summers there when the kids were small. (boy was that a long time ago!) The cabin burned unfortunately and they never rebuilt. And no, I didnt start the fire – lol -Very pretty country around there, and great fishing.
Dry and Dusty heck yeah g/f, Nacho’s and a good cold ale hits that spot very nicely around 6 or so! – lol -and yes, its been a lovely vacation, but I think I am going home either today or tomorrow. I am getting tired and I dont wanna get crabby!
I hope Graham is having a great vacation. Ruby (yes, she is a lynx point) now comes out from under the bed when I call her, and lets me pet her while she is eating. I keep hoping to wake up finding her next to me. All in good time. Barney (Blue’s brother) now spends his time in the kitchen as everyone is locked out of the bedroom and bathroom – he and Orange Kitty still hiss but will eat within a foot of each other. Progress!!
Finally we all slept through the night. Dually was curled up next to me while I watched TV and the kitties were piled around him for a couple hours. At bedtime no thunder not even a cloud. Dually climbed into the recliner and we all fell right to sleep. It was so unexpected and needed. Hope everyone else is having a good day.
Keep those entertaining comments coming, please! I so look forward to reading TC but nowadays MORE THAN EVER. @Jessegooddoggy….glad Ruby is feeling more at home. Your furry family has become quite dear to me. Hi Barney (aka Blue’s bro).@Queen…need more uplifting adopting/foster stories. Sending you a private e-mail from Dalelonghair.
@QOA….HOW EXCITING that the formerly sick/don’t know if they will survive kittens will soon be your new fosters! You are such a wonderful foster parent that your 2 remaining little ones will be snatched up like wild fires….unless they refuse to leave because they want more ‘dive bomber’ playtime first!
Good Morning Friends, I’m glad to hear everyone got a good night’s sleep, and so did their fur-babies!Ruth, I’m jealous! I want to be at a lake too, fishing preferably!Jesse, we knew she would settle down, poor baby.Queenie, you crabby? Nah!Dry. hey!Happy, did I hear right, that you started a GoFundMe account? For the van?
More cats…Hilarious! I love it when cats can’t figure out what the heck are we doing! Like eating at the table, in their kitty brain, we should eat on the floor,,,,and share!
Send good thoughts and hopes, please, for a continued success! My Dabdoob actually poo’d IN the litter box today, I’m so proud. He got lots of treats and praise. We’ve been struggling since about January, when he suddenly took an aversion to using the litter. A couple of times he avoided it for urination, but mostly he wouldn’t want to poo there, but pee’ing was ok. Took him to the vet about 4 or 5 times in total, 2 different vets, one of whom ONLY treats cats (found nothing wrong with him physically), and have tried everything we can think of – each thing would work for a bit, & then he’d suddenly stop again. Tried Cat Attract litter, having the litter box in the middle of my living room & slowly moving it, having 5 or 6 litter boxes scattered throughout the house, separating him & his brother to different levels of the house, locking him in a room by himself with a series of 4 litter boxes, each with a different choice of substance to use (2 litters, sand, and potting soil). Tried new litter boxes, storage bins with notches cut out (he’s a big cat – averages between 14 & 16 pounds, but not overweight until he’s around the 16 lb mark, when he starts to have a tummy). Clean each litter at least once daily (more often if I see he’s used it), and change litter completely quite often, scrubbing the pan each time, & use boiling water to sanitize it. He holds it all in until he can’t hold it anymore, then bam, he basically explodes wherever he is (sometimes as he’s running through the house, sigh). Each new thing we’ve done has been met with success for a week, 2 weeks, sometimes a month, & then suddenly it just stops working again. Oh, laxatives, too – his poo is very hard & dry, so now he gets a stool softener every day. I’m at my wit’s end, when this most recent streak was him not poo’ing since last Thursday (almost a WEEK!!), but he’s still been eating just fine. How on earth can he hold it for so long??? And I know he’s been holding it, because he’s been isolated to a room until he poo’d. And I can tell he had to go, he had that “look” when the urge would strike, but then he’d groom himself obsessively until the urge went away, cleaning his back, legs, tail like they were the dirtiest things in the world. I was so happy when he finally did his business, and absolutely thrilled that it was actually IN THE LITTER. So please, send good, healing thoughts & prayers for him to continue, & let this time of litter-going actually “stick”.
Hi Staracat1973: Are the litter boxes covered? Many cats don’t like that. My Morley cat (my avatar) was like this for many years – holding it for too long. I would carry him to the bathroom & litter & close the door to our other cats so no ambushes. Finally a few years ago, after a horrible 4 hour session that started at 4 am & a trip to the vets, etc. we started him on professional (ie – from the vets – $$$$) Royal Canin high fiber dry cat food. The dresser became the food station for Morley & production was “big”. Hope that helps (& makes sense!)
@Staracat1973 I was reading Dewey the Library cat and he had an enlarged large intestine that caused a problem. Maybe the vet can check for that? My friend’s cat has an enema every week or so for his problem with poo. Just a suggestion.
@CanadaKat, @crochetkid24 – thanks for the suggestions! all of his litterboxes have been open pans, my last trip to the vet, she suggested trying a closed one, that perhaps he’s one of the few cats that prefer that. I use actual litter pans (the biggest I can find, as he is a big boy, and also likes to stand when he poo’s if possible, with his front feet on the edge of the pan), and a couple of under-the-bed storage boxes (they’re longer, to accomodate him), and a big rubbermaid tote with a notch I’ve cut into the side. The tote I am now trying with the lid on it, just to see – when I first did the tote & didn’t have the cover on it, he used it immediately, then never again. Since I’ve put the cover on it, he’s sniffed it, & jumped on top of it, but hasn’t gone in it. The litters I use are unscented, too, & other than the “Cat Attract” one, have nothing but clay in them. When the vet calls me back tomorrow, I’ll ask about some of your suggestions! Her next idea was to maybe try a medication to contract his large intestine muscles to “help” him go, but she didn’t want to try that until his poo was more “squishy” (ewww, not so easy to clean up anymore….). He’s a very young cat to be having constipation problems already. He just turned 3 in March. But he’s my baby boy & little bear (his name is a form of “Teddy Bear” in Arabic – when he was just a kitten he would sit up & bat with his little claws out, & he looked just like a tiny black bear…). I’m in this for the long haul, he’s a member of my family. I just wish I could make him understand that he needs to give me more explicit directions about what he wants for his potty, or what the problem truly is, so we can fix it already!
The past few days have been rough for my family as my 8 year old grandson had brain surgery yesterday and I’m kind of lost, emotionally. Please keep good thoughts/prayers going for little Evan.

Chesney needs to meet with Grandma Sourpuss if he wants to really test the Crab O Meter, altho I suspect it’s only with Snow that she registers.
