Queen, heaven only knows what Nikki was fed before she came to you. Cats just don’t drink enough water!Maybe diluted no salt chix broth? At her age, she wouldn’t have lasted long. Flinging litter might be the reason her previous owner dumped her in the shelter.(may he rot in hell)
Of all the cats I’ve had, not one had an “accident”, although Max would hang his butt over the edge of the box and poop on the floor, we solved that by using the plastic pan you drain your car’s oil in. And put it in the garage. He had plenty of room and never did it again!
@DennisinSeattleNo, we don’t have a black fly problem in Barrie; however, at the family cabin in Plevna, if you go up in May and go outdoors the black flies will carry you off, never to be seen again. Seriously, though, in May at the cabin you have to wear bug spray and “bug suits” before going for a walk.
@Beviek: the scoot poo-butt kitty is a riot…and resembles my Kristen. -———————————————————————————-Dale and Kristen’s history: on my bed ‘stalking’ Justin (a kitty I took in after a friend dropped him off – he stayed). And a really grown up Kristen in 2007 with grandson, Evan.
Dear Lily…..all my pets have had ‘accidents’. Some funnier than others…such as Sylvester depositing in my father’s bedroom slipper and Pierre adding his version of mail to a paper bag where my mother’s mail was stored each week before she dropped over to collect it. My one and only pooch, Maxie, has had his share as well. It’s all part of the human/pet relationship.
@Queen: I sympathize with you about getting Nikki to drink more water. Idea: my cats (and dog) never turn up their noses at tuna water (what you squeeze from a can of human tuna). Several times a day I give them fresh, really cold, water and they go right for it too. Keep us informed. Poor kitty.
One of my Bengals belonged to someone I house sat for, for 9 years. She would show her displeasure of the owners bed companion by pooping in the bed on the side that person slept on the previous night. That is the only time she would do something like that and would only do it with one particular person. Since I didn’t like that one person I thought it was hilarious. Unfortunately for the cat after 3 times it got her and the other 2 cats banned from all bedrooms permanently. I’ve had her and the other Bengal from this person permanently for about 4 years now and have never had a problem of any kind. I guess it’s just all about attitude (or cattitude) sometimes.
All this cat-shaming is a waste of time. As a long time cat-whisperer I know it is never about the “accident”. Just because cats sleep 16 hours a day doesn’t mean they don’t need attention, just like any other personality in your household. Say “Hello”, when your cat enters a room. Offer the cat a cold drink when he comes in on a hot day. Tell the cat before picking him up; it’s not a dirty sock. If you are too lazy to clean a litter box every day, get three.
That cough med seems like it might be nice over ice…wouldn’t need any alcohol either. 8-)
I’m a “liar”! Evidently, you can now get the Watkins Insect Repellent here (USA). I saw it on. of all places, Amazon. But seemed in smaller quantity. Please try it especially for Black Flies…
Queen, Buster likes to have ice cubes in his water. He will lick them and drink the cool water. He is drinking and peeing more like he should since I started doing that, so I don’t think I will have any more problems with crystals. Anything to get them to drink more.
We took Bucky to the vet today for his annual vaccinations. He was fine when we got there, then he tried to bite me, then he was fine again. An assistant held him while our vet gave him his shot, at the same time she was telling the assistant, ’He’s crazy.’ We all know that, but we still like him. :^)
That’s what I said but he really wanted me to stick to water. I’ve even gotten Moose off of his juice. He still begs now and then but I stick to my guns. I do NOT want to pay or another operation or have him go thru that again.
