HHH — Re: yesterday’s jelliesSurprisingly, WalMart has a house brand cream soda in the Chicago area that I like, but is a bit sweet. There is also a brand, ‘Frostop", usually found around here in hardware stores & at Farm & Fleet, that has a Vanilla Cream Soda that is excellent. If you find the brand, try their Red Birch Beer – I think you’ll like it. 8^)Can you post or point us to the recipe for the Soda Jellies?
I would like to ask that the Ten Cats community think good thoughts for our friend Beth today. Her darling 14 year old Georgie passed early this morning. After having someone in your life for that long, the hole they leave is huge. At least she was home surrounded by love. Our hugs and tears are with Beth and her daughter (and Juju, who will miss her also) today.
To Dry and Dusty:I apologize for taking a day to answer you. I only get online once a day and I check back to see what I missed. Metformin has a known side effect (according to my doctor) of causing diarrhea and boy, did I have it every single day! I have lost 150 pounds and counting. This has gotten my pancreas working again, along with my 1200 to 1500 calorie a day diet (I think), has kept my diabetes in check. It’s done wonders for my hypertension. What it hasn’t cured is my two blown knees that are awaiting replacement surgery.
Calvin update: Brought him home about 2:30 yesterday and put him in his room. He had water but no food yet.
At 7:30, I put 3 kinds of wet food on his plate thinking he might lap up just the juice from the Fancy Feast pouch.
This morning, every single bit had been eaten and his plate was licked clean.
All I gave him was one of the Wellness tubs and he scarfed it down. I opened up a Fancy Feast pouch and he ate that but finally left a few bits of the tuna. I guess he was finally full.
He’s out running around with Moose now.
Pam: I’m sorry to hear that Beths’ cat passed but glad she was at home and not on a cold table at the vet office.
Beth, so sorry to hear about Georgie. I know when I lost my cat Fannie, I cried for weeks and couldn’t even talk to anyone. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Jazz Cat (alias Rose Rabbit)
Oh goody! I was going to post this just because it is so cute but today it actually fits the script there are quite a few in the pps file Iwas sent. I"d be glad to pass it along in email anyone wants it. there are just too many to take screen shots and upload each one.
@Beth Peterson, so sorry to hear about your Georgie it’s always hard to a loved one four footed or two. I will think good thoughts for you for Georgie and your impending surgery – the way my ligaments are complaining these days I don’t think it’ll be long before I need knee surgery too :-(
Beth, there’s not much I can add to what everyone else has said. The longer you have them, the harder it is to lose them. Grief is the price we pay for love. Hope your knee surgery goes well.
On the subject of sodas (I know, I’m a day late and a dollar short!), my favorite is Mr Pibb. I first had it in Rochester NY in 1975. It’s hard to get in Boston. I don’t drink much soda these days, I prefer cranberry juice and also limeade.
@Queen….I will repeat myself one more: Calvin, you ARE da man. I had to smile reading about your appetite. Now go run and play with your foster brothers.
Beth, I have been where you are with dogs and cats both, and for the most part for many years! It tears your heart out! Our pets, our companions, our loyal friends never live as long as they should, but they bring SUCH JOY into our lives while they are here! We will meet them again one day. I believe in Heaven, and I can’t believe God would create such WONDERFUL creatures that when they pass, they would not go to Heaven as well! If anything, they deserve to be there more than most of us humans!
Sonya Fitzpatrick gave me a reading. the dogs who had passed told her things no one else could know. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost a pet. the subject is too fresh for me. I’m not over my own losses. maybe never will be.

Love the Crazy Cat Lady Starter Kit. Looks as though it is more a Finished Kit rather than Starter.
