Don’t remind me, I can hardly breathe as it is. Cedar pollen. One of three things the allergy panel reacted to. The other two were Eucalyptus and Cloves. Weird huh? Slight reaction to wheat. I have NCGS non Celiac gluten sensitivity. The Doc said " at least you can eat shrimp and strawberries." Doesn’t help when the wind here is blowing Cedar pollen all over. I parked outside yesterday and my car was covered.
National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day. I like both, but not in the same sandwich,
National Love Our Children Day
National Reconciliation Day
National Ferret Day
National Handmade Day. Probably the best handmade thing I ever got was a pair of mittens. I think I was around 7 or 8 years old. We had a senior citizen couple living next door. Whenever it snowed, no matter how much or how little it snowed, my older brothers would shovel their sidewalk for them while they were doing our sidewalk. Nobody asked them to do it and they never accepted payment for it. They were just very nice neighbors and my brothers wanted to help them out. As a thank you gift, the wife knitted me and my younger brother Daniel each a pair of mittens. I don’t know why she chose to knit them for us when we were not the ones shoveling their sidewalk. Anyway, I loved those mittens. They were the warmest mittens I ever had (and I mean in the entire 63 years of my life!). I was so unhappy when they got to be too small for me. But they still meant a lot to me, so I saved them for years after that. I think the moths got to them eventually or something and I had to throw them away.
From yesterday’s comments to 5marilynnbyerly who replied to my comments about my impatiens coming up “Impatiens don’t deal with cold because of their watery stem structure. I doubt you will save yours even if you cover them. I don’t bother planting them until well past our final frost date which is April 15th.”
I do know that impatiens don’t like cold. I started my seeds indoors. I don’t plant them outdoors until late May. Right now, they are happy and warm under their grow lights. I hope to start tomato seeds soon, also under grow lights
Last year I had a terrible hours long reaction after walking through Rabbit Brush – a scraggly bush that blooms bright yellow all over the eastern Sierra and high desert at the same time the aspens and cottonwoods are in their full golden glory. Beautiful, but many have the same reaction while I often bring a bouquet in my house with no issues. Got my potatoes planted yesterday, and the tomato seedlings are rapidly growing in this too early warmth we seem to be stuck with. A/C on for a short time the last 2 days.
This little poem is cute! Fortunately I’ve never had hay fever or been allergic to anything. Still cold here ~ we have some freezing nights still coming up. So, so ready for warm weather!
When my mom was a girl back in the Coolidge era she had a cat that helped her garden. She’d dig holes for planting and the cat would fill them up as soon as she started on the next hole.
Well, that’s one way to distribute seeds. I don’t have allergies, but I feel bad for those that do. On another note, saw six robins, four juncos, a towhee, and a wren while out walking today.

He must be a mighty sneezer to blow seeds that are an inch or more down.
laughingkitty over 2 years ago
Don’t sneeze in my garden, kitty (I mean, after I’ve planted it, of course. That won’t happen until May).

So far, no allergy attacks here. I think it still too cool for the pollen to be rising up in to the air.

@THIS SIDE UP … Cover your mouth, kitty!!!!!! Bless you, nevertheless.
