So I switched on the computer this afternoon, and only one monitor came on (I run two monitors), and it wasn’t the one that has the Login displayed on it. After a bit of thought, pressing buttons, and swapping cables about, followed by a spot of testing with a multimeter, I discovered that the PSU brick for the LH montor had given it’s final electrons and was no more. Knowing that I didn’t have another PSU brick with that type of plug on it, I had a look online (on one of my other computers) for a replacement. Failing to find one that I could get in a reasonable timeframe for a reasonable price (These monitors are well over ten years old now), I cut the lead off of the broken one and fitted a socket on the bare end that would connect to the PSU brick that I had in stock that was of a compatable rating. After confirming output voltage and polarity, I connected it all up and welcomed the dead monitor back to the land of the living. This will run like this now, the replacement PSU is suitable for the task having a higher current output than the standard one.
If you’re used to running two (Or more) monitors, then having to use one is no fun at all!!
