Most cats lose interest in mirrors by at least 6 months of age, but I once had one that tried to leap through some mirror wall panels to get into that other room when he was a bit older than that. I can still remember his claws frantically scrabbling at the glass. He was a dear fellow, but not terribly bright.
Both my tuxes (the late, great Pixel and Nimitz) use mirrors to see behind them. It’s as if they know that the red dot is behind them when they see it in the mirror. As kittens, they both did “Halloween kitty” when they saw themselves. They clearly grew out of it.
