Modestly enlarged image can be found at the only work, by this artist, so far, to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog (yesterday).Nymphes Chasseresses (Nymphs Hunting, link shows Wikipedia page) is privately owned (last auction result).A different coloration, enlarged image can be found here (source for too many other places to mention). The artist’s Wikipedia page and collection.
I think that it is misnamed. 1. The huntresses are not in sync.2. Where is the nude rabbit?3. Shouldn’t it be called, ‘Nude Kitty Cat Huntresses’?. (O.K. So where is the kitty cat)
One of Stewart’s paintings (The Glade) is hanging here in Detroit at the Detroit Institute of Arts. He was the Alberto Vargas of his day and catered to the tastes of wealthy young men with his daring (for his day) nudes disguised as Greek mythology. These were the 19th century versions of high-end high-def porn and were the first paintings a man’s new wife would try to have consigned to the attic as soon as she moved into the house. Now if only I could find that dog park!
Those are FOXHOUNDS (no pun intended) not Rabbit Hounds. For Rabbits you would use a beagle like dog. As always, thanks to mabrndt for his input. He is most helpful, and I frequently read but do not comment, but often enjoy Mr Melcher’s work and mabrndt’s enlightened input. Sincerely & Respectfully, JusSayin
If you really like it, you can buy a print from its current-location, which has a slightly larger than the one you point to. Funny thing, his Wikipedia page says Lillie Langtry is among those pictured, but its current-location description doesn’t mention her.

I’ve often thought many sports would be more interesting if playednude.

Bare hunting as an Olympic sport? The ticket scalpers are going to get top dollar for the finals in that event.

Keith, given that these are nymphs hunting, if you found the park, there’s an excellent chance you would be the quarry.
(Great comparison to Vargas.)
