Just when they were about to run out of hair care products, their hopes for a decent salon were raised when they spotted land.

Alas, it’s only the actual Starbuck on The Pequod, and Quakers don’t drink coffee. How about some nice oats?

Don’t get too excited. Back then, the Starbucks didn’t even have wi-fi.

Just looked it up, and it only took about 34 days to make the crossing. The 287 days seemed ridiculous. Someone used to do commentary on the real sources of the pictures? He gave up, or it isn’t in the comments now?

Columbus discovers the shores of America

    https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Christian_Ruben_30._11._1805-8._7._1875_-_Kolumbus_objevuje_brehy_Ameriky_Kolumbus.jpg

(best viewed by Google Chrome, which can automatically translate most pages as necessary) has info and links that point to info about this painting.

    https://www.deutsche-biographie.de/sfz77181.html

has German info about this artist (again, Chrome can translate), perhaps in addition to what’s pointed to by the first URL. This is the first work by him used here.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #1985 (June 28, 2018) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment.
