No…no we aren’t built to be apprehensive of things that are different from us. If we were, we wouldn’t touch hot objects that 1st time, we wouldn’t have to be taught not to go off with strangers, or to touch things with sharp points to them.
Apprehension of people that are different than us, whether it be color of skin or some disability, those are learned by watching people around us. People that show their own intolerance or lack of understanding of other people. Because if you watch children interacting with each other, one and two years olds meeting….they don’t give a crap about differences. They only learn that later.
