Actually, the bonobo (formerly known as the dwarf chimpanzee) is closer to Homo sapiens than the chimp is.
On the other hand, the chimp (and the bonobo) and Man share a branch on the family tree /now/, not a long time ago. They had a common ancestor a long time ago, but they, themselves, didn’t live back then, and so could not have been “sharing” anything.
