There is a great bit of trivia regarding Mony Mony. Tommy James and Ritchie Cordell had written the song but couldn’t come up with a title. As Tommy gazed from his NYC apartment window, he saw a big sign for the Mutual of New York insurance company and realized the abbreviated name, MONY, was perfect. It hit #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967. The other two, Hanky Panky and Crimson and Clover did better, they both made it to #1
I had thought that the strip was going to be about Joan Jett, but (surprisingly) she never covered Mony Mony. I knew that she’s covered a lot of songs, but I didn’t realize just how much of her discography are covers. She must make no money off of publishing when you consider how many of her hits are covers.
This is all very well, but you know when he gets into his teens they won’t be able to get the child out of bed in the morning, not even with gunpowder.

I think Baby is a reincarnation of a 1960s child.

So, the child literally cries loud enough to wake the dead. I am impressed.
