Svengoolie showed “The Bride of Frankenstein” the other night. As often as I’ve seen it I still watched the whole thing, mainly for the wonderful Franz Waxman music that was also used in the old Flash Gordon serials. (Perhaps you’ve noticed my avatar.) The stirring music for a mob marching against Frankenstein’s Monster works just as well when marching against Ming the Merciless.
Why is she called “Bride of Frankenstein” if the monster isn’t called Frankenstein? I’m sick and tired of pedants getting bent out of shape over not calling the monster by that name.
Look, if you can get mad at me for being a pedant about grammar and punctuation, then I can get mad at you for being a pedant about Frankenstein.
When I was a kid, the monster was called “Frankenstein” and nobody started making a fuss about it until sometime in the 1980s.
