I remember being the the 8th grade (83-84) and our science teacher (who liked to say she’d been teaching for 100 years) took a class period to correct our handwriting because “when you get to high school none of your teachers are going to accept papers printed or in pencil.” When I got to high school most of the teachers printed in pencil. My cursive isn’t great but my printing is worse.
No loss in any of those cases. They look cool, but have disadvantages. No two people write cursive the same. Printing isn’t as pretty, but I find it far easier to read bad print handwriting than good cursive.

Penmanship, the one class I almost failed. Typing class saved me but the effort the old manuals took.

I once wrote a rather long note to my grandson in cursive. He burst out in tears because he couldn’t make it out.
