I remember going to bed at 9 and waking up with boundless energy at 6 as a kid. I wish I had stuck to that habit. Now I’m lucky I can get 9 hours sleep on the weekends. It’s nearly impossible to fall asleep before midnight during the work week.

Kids have to do it because their parents make them. Their parents make them do it because their employers do. Their employers make them do it because the bosses do. The whole day cycle was created by he industrial revolution and the need to have a workforce working together. So most people either have to get up too early or too late for their system do so because of the workplace constraints.
We all know it is not what our bodies want to do, and have known it since childhood, but society is set up to make us behave in this way to make profits for others.
