    I have a friend who always says: it’s better when the glass is half empty, so you can re-fill it, which you cannot with a half full glass.

    The glass is completely full. Half with liquid half with air.

    Actually, the glass appears to be half-emptied. It looks like it is being consumed, or is evaporating, and thus becoming empty. If more were being poured in, it would be half-filled. Full and empty are like a vacuum or pregnancy — there is no “half.”

    I have a friend that claims the right course of action is to dump the water out of the glass and fill it with beer.
