So a chip off the old block….

There was no silver lining on my cloud…..

I’m very optimistic that we pessimists will not be disapointed. I can’t say the same for optimists.

Does that mean Brutus is a realist or a pessimist? Or as the old joke says: An optimist says we live in the best of all worlds, while the pessimist fears this to be true.

Brutus knew his fellow students too well.

Not with that attitude.

Ah, the things we talk ourselves out of doing only to later sing the ‘woulda-coulda-shoulda’ song. It keeps us busy, I guess.

Ah Brutus, passing on the wisdom.

well, I wonder why. would you like some more water in your half cup while we’re at it? empty or full don’t matter to me. overflowing would be great and messy. :D

One can be optimistic and still think things won’t work out. What moderates optimism is being practical. It’s like that old saying about throwing spaghetti at the wall. A practical optimist knows that not all of them will stick, but some of them will. In this case it is nice to see Brutus using his noodle. (Couldn’t resist.) :^)

Irony and humor in his answer of course, but I, as his son, would still have asked, “Why was that?”……

He wasn’t optimistic enough…

In other words, Mom says don’t be like Dad.

It bogles the mind to think that the Born Loser once considered becoming an optimist.

And let’s face it, what would a born loser have to be optimistic about?

He should have started a pessimists’ club. Lower standards to live up to.
