Vebblefester could be MIA for a whole month and nobody would be “missing” his void!! The employees would be “dancing in the streets!!!”

I think he just avoids thinking about Brutus.

The key word here is avoid. Avoid sticking your head into the boss’s office door if he hasn’t called to see you.

Some voids are larger than others. In this regard bigger is not better.

I would avoid this topic.

Man to chief: “I hear Brutus left. Who filled his vacancy?”

Chief: “He didn’t leave one.”

I would have loved to see Brutus say in panel 2… “I’m back chief, thanks for doing your best in holding down the fort.” RV might like seeing a little self-confidence in Brutus too, although he wouldn’t admit it.

Whether he is at work or at home, Brutus cannot avoid the insults.

Somebody must be doing something right. The boss always seems to have bags of money lying around.

At least Brutus will feel at home at home or work. He gets the same treatment from home and work. Poor ole soul.

Brutus, avoid the void.

The boss sits there thinking he is a Don Rickles.

He did notice the void left by one less client.

The Chief creates a continuous disturbance in the Force.

Brutus really walked into that one. He keeps trying to get a compliment from boss man. I doubt boss man has a compliment for anyone, or anything, except his bottom line.

The Boss’s world could never exist without Brutus. They are like the Ying and Yang of life; a partnership, a team. One cannot exist without the other; though they more resemble Olie and Stan…….

“You’re the biggest void I’ve got, Thornapple.”

“Thanks, Chief!”

That being the case, Brutus should avoid the office more often. Production would probably go up and thereby prove his value to the company.

One day Thornapple will take leave of his boss, either in a straight jacket or handcuffs.

Brutus is feeling the Born Loser position strongly today.
