Aw, Gladys. Practice. It’s not so hard. (Flashing on when the Fonz was trying to say he was sorry, and he couldn’t get the word to come out).

Sounds like my ex who was never wrong even when she wasn’t right, but wouldn’t admit it.

I take it it’s his turn to do the dishes now, will you at least let him have a slice before he cleans the dishes you used to make the pie?

If I’m wrong, I admit it. I am trying, with various degrees of success, to not have a “Be Right Giant” in me, where I refuse to admit when I’m wrong and argue vociferously about why I was right, even when I was wrong.

Nuts, Gladys. Though she must be a whale of a cook to think that way.

Bernadette: Do you have this one?

Stuart: Uh, well, it’s, it’s pretty rare. Can you give me a few days to track it down?

Bernadette: Ooh, I was kind of hoping to get it before Howie comes home from work.

    Stuart: Oh. What’s the hurry?

Bernadette: Well, he’s always saying I should be more careful with my curling iron, and it seems like a dangerous precedent to let him think he can be right…

Wow mind blowing on several levels. Was Gargoyle actually suggesting that Gladys should’ve apologized, and to Brutus of all people?? Is the look on her face in the last panel mirth combined with pride?

Yesterday I mention that whenever I see uncle Ted I get a smile on my face. Whenever the first panel contains mother Gargoyle I get chills run up my spine! And by the way, is it just coincidence that her hair seems to be shaped like the state of West Virginia?

An all too common female attitude. The joke is “if a man says something, and no woman is around to hear it, is he still wrong?”

Good ole’ Gladys Thornapple. Instead of telling Brutus that he was right for once and risking him dying of shock, she will kill him slowly with diabetes.

Guys, if, in the course of an argument with your wife, you start to have an inkling you’re in the right, apologize immediately.

Gladys will still not admit she was wrong so Brutus will end up doing the dishes plus washing all the pie making utensils. Of course Brutus does get the pie, so I guess in this instance it’s a draw which for Brutus is sort of a win.

I will admit when I am wrong and I will apologize. It’s free to do, and can make some hurt feelings feel better. I don’t get the problem; I really don’t understand all the snide comments disguised as jokes about women always having to be right even if they are wrong and men are always wrong no matter what. However, I do expect the other person, the male of the species, to also give me the same courtesy, or at least to not make an issue out of nothing. Why put a damper on a marriage or relationship over nothing?

Brutus may be the Born Loser, but he’s no dummy. He’ll figure out that the pie is your way of admitting that you were wrong, Gladys, but he’ll also appreciate that you went to all that trouble to make up for it. And you’ll have a nice pie that the two of you can share.

Not everyone is willing to use words to say it. Knew some teachers in school and college who would do the same, but not with anything cooked or bought with money.
