Dung beetles always have a ball.

Dung beetles would be good at holding corporate executives resopnsible – they are used to making crap roll uphill.

I read in last week’s THIS WEEK, that dung beetles navigate by using the stars to find their way to ‘roll along,’ the same way that birds do.

That dog must be eating nuclear waste; look at the size of that beetle.

The dung beetle is also the intermediate host for Spirocera lupi, a nematode that infects canids and felids. The worm matures in the wall of the esophagus which forms a nodule around the worm. In some cases, the tissue in the wall of the nodule can transform to malignant tumors, especially osteosarcoma or fibrosarcoma. This worm is found in the US but is not common. Dogs are infected when they ingest an infected dung beetle. Here endeth your science moment for today.
